Old Crow Medicine Show built their reputation the hard way, busking street corners across North America before bluegrass legend Doc Watson's daughter heard them playing outside a pharmacy in Boone, North Carolina, and dragged her father over for a listen. That chance moment opened the door to the Grand Ole Opry circuit, and the band, originally from Harrisonburg, Virginia, have been a cornerstone of the old time and Americana revival ever since. Their old time string sound wrapped in punk rock energy helped inspire acts like Mumford & Sons and reignited mainstream interest in banjo driven string bands. Their signature song "Wagon Wheel" a co write between Ketch Secor and Bob Dylan, went platinum in 2013 and became a country standard after Darius Rucker took it into the top 40. The band's ninth album Remedy won the Grammy for Best Folk Album, and they were inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2013. With albums ranging from the rootsy O.C.M.S. to the rock leaning Volunteer, and a 25th anniversary record Jubilee featuring guests like Mavis Staples, OCMS have never stopped pushing at what old time music can sound like.
