About

Also known as: Paul Melvyn Carrack

The BBC once called Paul Carrack "The Man with the Golden Voice", and it's hard to argue. The Sheffield born musician has been the secret weapon behind some of rock's most recognisable moments, singing lead on Ace's "How Long", Squeeze's "Tempted", and a string of Mike + The Mechanics hits including "Silent Running", "The Living Years" and "Over My Shoulder", often without getting the household name recognition those songs deserve. Carrack's blue eyed soul style translates just as well on his own records. His solo hit "Don't Shed a Tear" reached number nine, and his songs have been covered by the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Diana Ross and Tom Jones among others. He has also done session and touring work for Roxy Music, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Ringo Starr and Roger Waters, appearing on Waters' Radio K.A.O.S. and The Wall Live in Berlin. With nineteen solo albums to his name, he has kept busy well beyond his band years.
