About
Son Lux started as the solo project of composer and producer Ryan Lott, whose early records blended post rock and electronica into something genuinely hard to pin down. NPR named the project Best New Artist on All Songs Considered after the debut, and the Lanterns single "Lost It To Trying" landed on Pitchfork's Best New Tracks list. A collaboration with Lorde on a reworked version of "Easy" gave a sense of how far the project's reach extended. In 2015, touring members Rafiq Bhatia and Ian Chang officially joined Lott, turning Son Lux into a proper trio. Their biggest moment came when they scored the 2022 film Everything Everywhere All at Once, a sprawling 49 track soundtrack featuring David Byrne, Mitski, André 3000, Randy Newman and Moses Sumney among others. That score earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score. They followed it up by scoring the Marvel film Thunderbolts* in 2025.
