Donovan Woods has been quietly stacking up a serious catalogue since his 2007 debut, writing the kind of folk and country songs that end up on other people's records as much as his own. His tunes have been cut by Tim McGraw and Charles Kelley, and he co wrote number one Canadian country hits for the Reklaws and Chad Brownlee, all while holding down his own career as a recording artist out of Sarnia, Ontario. His fifth album Both Ways took home the Juno Award for Contemporary Roots Album of the Year in 2019, cementing him as one of Canada's sharpest roots voices. His 2020 album Without People pulled in collaborators like Katie Pruitt, Rhys Lewis, Ashley Monroe and Ed Robertson of Barenaked Ladies, showing just how wide his creative circle runs. His most recent full length, Things Were Never Good If They're Not Good Now, came out in 2024 on End Times Music, a label he co founded himself, and landed a longlisting for the 2025 Polaris Music Prize.
