About
Volbeat built their reputation by doing something few bands pull off convincingly: fusing the swagger of classic rock and roll with the crunch of heavy metal. Formed in Copenhagen in 2001 by Michael Poulsen after he walked away from his death metal past, the band landed early praise from the German hard rock magazine RockHard, which gave their debut a perfect 10/10. From there, the trajectory was steep. Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood hit number one on the Danish chart, and Beyond Hell/Above Heaven went triple platinum in Denmark and Austria, double platinum in Sweden, and earned gold status in the United States. Nine studio albums in, Volbeat have toured alongside Metallica, Megadeth, and Nightwish, and their current lineup features Poulsen on vocals and guitar, Jon Larsen on drums, Kaspar Boye Larsen on bass, and Flemming C. Lund on guitar. Their most recent record, God of Angels Trust, arrived in 2025.
