Born in London but raised in İzmir, Edis Görgülü carved out a reputation as one of Turkey's sharper pop voices before he even released a proper album. His debut single "Benim Ol" hit number two on the Türkçe Top 20 in 2014, and he followed it with a string of chart hits including "Dudak" and "Çok Çok", both also peaking at number two. The streak finally hit the top spot with "Roman", the lead single from his first studio album Ân, which held number one for four weeks. Ân arrived in March 2018 and cemented his standing in the Turkish pop scene, with additional videos for "Yalan", "Ân" and "Bana Ne" keeping the momentum going. That same year he duetted with Emina Jahović on "Güzelliğine" and contributed a cover to Yıldız Tilbe's tribute album. Radio and streaming figures for 2018 ranked him the third most heard male artist on Turkish radio and television.
